How to get Iran electronic visa?

A visa is one of the travel requirements that allows a person to enter another country. Today, with the advancement of technology and the increased speed of life, the process of obtaining a visa is no exception to this rule, and along with this development, in order to speed up the process of obtaining the visa, it has gone electronic.

Therefore, most of the countries in the world have made it possible for travelers to easily enter their countries by issuing an electronic visa. By electronic visas, Iran is one of the countries that has made the convenience and speed of tourists’ travel as one of their policy priorities. In the following article, Iran’s electronic visa and the procedures for obtaining it will be explained.

In order to enter Iran and obtain a tourist visa, foreign tourists can apply and submit their documents through the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

In this way, the applicant can personally apply for a visa through the MFA website. The applicant can register his visa application in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by entering the website evisa.mfa.ir. After filling in the application form, the applicant must wait for his application to be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After the application is accepted, the applicant receives an email from the Iranian visa system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he’ll refer to the Iranian embassy or consulate in the country he chose at the time of registration. Then he has to pay the visa issuance fee, he’ll get the final approval of the visa.

Keep in mind that if there is any problem in the submitted documents or registered information, there is a possibility that the application will be rejected.

Iran electronic visa issuance period

It will take between 5 and 10 working days to review your e-visa application. If you didn’t receive your e-visa within this period of time, go to the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and ask for your e-visa. It should be noted that if your visa is not issued within ten days, an email will be sent to you informing you of the latest status of your visa issuance.

Documents required to get Iran tourist visa:

  • Image of the first page of the passport
  • A 3×4 photo with a white background (preferably a recent one)
  • Image of your residence card (in case the applicant’s passport and place of residence are different, i.e an applicant wants to apply for a visa from Paris with an Afghan passport)
  • Filling in the application form on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the personal information form prepared by the travel agency
  • Travel insurance
  • Itinerary, tour leader card, hotel watcher and plane ticket (only for Canadian, American and British citizens)

According to the new guidelines issued by the National Corona Headquarters, applicants for Iran visa must meet the following requirements:

Holding a negative PCR corona test at most 96 hours before travel (for people over 12 years old)

Holding a vaccination card for at least 2 doses (the vaccine received should be among ones approved by Iranian Ministry of Health)

The applicant is not from high-risk countries or his next destination is not high-risk countries.

Iran tourist visa validity period:

After the final approval of the visa, travelers can use that visa to enter Iran within 3 months or 90 days.

For those travelers who have entered the country, their validity of tourist visa is 30 days at most.

Who cannot apply for Iran tourist visa?

• Citizens of occupied Palestine (Israel)

• People who have a recent trip to Israel.

• Afghan nationals who reside in Afghanistan.

• Citizens of countries that have a very unfavorable economic situation. (usually African countries)

• Citizens of high-risk countries in terms of corona virus

• People who have had political activities against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

• Indian nationals residing in India.
