World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on September 27th. According to the statistics from the World Tourism Organization, Iran witnessed a remarkable 315% growth in foreign tourist arrivals in the year 2022.
World Tourism Day, observed worldwide on September 27th each year, serves as an occasion for nations across the globe to recognize the importance and impact of the thriving travel and tourism industry on societies, economies, cultures, politics, sustainable development, and more.
The 2023 World Tourism Day event is hosted by Saudi Arabia in the city of Riyadh, and it is expected to be the largest tourism celebration to date, with participation from representatives of over 100 member countries of the UNWTO, including more than 50 tourism ministers. High-level delegates from the private tourism sector, both regionally and globally, will also join this celebration. From Iran, Maryam Jalali Dehkordi, Deputy for Handicrafts at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, will be in attendance. The UNWTO has declared “Tourism and Green Investment” as the slogan for World Tourism Day in 2023.
