History of Pars Museum

Kolah Farangi pavilion was built directly supervised by Karim Khan Zand on two floors with a roof of 80.14 meters high. It is built on a platform 30.1 centimeters high from the ground. The pavilion had been a greeting room for foreign guests and ambassadors and had ceremonial arrangements.

Architecture of Pars Museum

The structure of the building is beautiful and stunning.

The main building is an irregular octagonal building with four alcoves and four entrances. The interior of the building consists of a central hall and a dome. This mansion is paved and one of the most important internal components of the building is an octagonal marble Howz in the center of the building, which artistically and industrially is very significant. The building has four well-designed alcoves. The interior surfaces of the building, consisting of arches and between the arches, are all regular and plaster decorated in flowers, birds and Arabesque lines. Because of the damage caused to the paintings by Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar, these paintings were restored with vegetable dye by Master Mohammad Baqer Jahanmiri in the style of Zand era. In 1966 and 1985, the roof of the Northern alcove was exfoliated for two years in order to distinguish the paintings of the Zand period, and the rest of the roof remained the same.

The distance between each alcove has a corner room, and both corner rooms have fireplaces. The room on the northeast side has Muqarnas and different designs. This room is more important and more beautiful than any other room. This room has marble dadoes with fine oil paintings, restored by Professor Badr Agha Sami.

Nazar Garden

There are two Howzs on either sides of the building area, and the garden consists of regular trails between trees and flowers, where chairs are placed for the convenience of visitors. Among the garden are some old trees, which are registered as “ancient trees” by Iran Antiquities Protection Organization.

If you take your time for a tour around the garden, you will notice a monument that has its own beauty. This is the Sun Palace stone dado, and it has two carving lions on it. This stone dates back to the Qajar era.
