The Director of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Gilan said: The discovery of a historical stone cemetery near the sea in the west of the province surprised archaeologists.

According to the report of kental travel news Vali Jahani, on Tuesday, in an interview with an IRNA reporter, he added: In the west of Gilan, in the cultural area of Talash, the remains of an ancient grave were found by the coast, the history of which dates back to 2 thousand years ago.
He stated: Considering that the history of settlements in the Jalga and the coast of Gilan in the western regions of the province dates back to the early Islamic period, therefore, with the discovery of this grave and the remains of other ancient graves in Talash region, it can be said that the history of settlement along the coast of Gilan dates back to the pre-Islamic period. Islam is coming back.
The General Manager of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the province added: Many Iranian and foreign tourists who visited the Gilan coast and plains in different periods and agreed that there are no signs of pre-Islamic settlements in the Gilan plains. If someone wants to do studies in this field, he should go to the mountainous areas.

Jahani explained: Even the famous researcher of Gilan and professor of history “Manochehar Sotoudeh” clearly states in his important book “Astara to Astarabad” that the plains of Gilan had no pre-Islamic works and due to swampy problems, etc., it was possible to live at that time. It did not exist in this part of Gilan province in the distant past, especially before Islam.
The general director of cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts of Gilan stated: Anyway, the discovery of this ancient grave in the west of Gilan and the discovery of other graves in the east of the province, including Rahimabad, show that the coast of Gilan and its plains have a history of human settlement in the pre-Islamic periods. But it has not been studied and researched.
Jahani continued: Definitely, the emergency exploration of this big stone grave and probably the neighboring graves can help the architectural typology of the ancient graves and the history of settlement along the coast of Gilan, which was found for the first time in the West Gilan Jalga.
He emphasized: Any more detailed information about this unique grave is subject to extensive excavations.

5,000 historical and cultural monuments have been identified in Gilan, of which 1,220 historical monuments, including historical monuments and sites, have been registered in the national list.
