Trump’s Letter to Iran: Negotiation or War? Iran’s History Proves Otherwise!

Recently, news has surfaced about a letter sent by former U.S. President Donald Trump to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. In this letter, Trump has threatened Iran with either negotiations or war, using arrogant rhetoric in Western media. But is Iran a country that succumbs to threats and sits at an unequal negotiating table? History has made the answer crystal clear.
Iran: A Civilization That Has Never Bowed to Threats
Iran, with its thousands of years of civilization, has never surrendered to force or intimidation. Unlike the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, European countries, Japan, and South Korea, which have at various times obeyed U.S. policies, Iran has never allowed foreign interference. Whether against the Mongols, colonialists, or modern global powers, Iran has always stood firm and refused to yield.
For decades, the U.S. has imposed sanctions and exerted pressure on Iran, yet it has never managed to break the country’s resolve. This is the same reality today: Iran will continue on its own path, and U.S. threats will change nothing.
Negotiation or Deception? The JCPOA Experience Speaks Volumes
In his recent speech regarding Trump’s letter and U.S. threats, the Supreme Leader of Iran emphasized that America’s push for negotiations is nothing more than a ploy to deceive global public opinion. He stated, “This letter has not yet reached me, but the U.S. wants to spread the lie that Iran, unlike them, is unwilling to negotiate and reach an agreement. Yet, the very same person who says this tore apart the outcome of our previous negotiations with the U.S.”
These remarks highlight the bitter experience of the JCPOA (Iran nuclear deal), where Iran and six world powers reached an agreement under President Barack Obama. However, when Trump took office, he unilaterally withdrew from the deal and reimposed harsher sanctions. Now, the very people who reneged on their commitments are calling Iran to the negotiating table! How can such a party be trusted?
Iran Has Never Started a War, but It Will Respond
Iran has never initiated a war, but it will respond to threats. The Supreme Leader stated, “Threats of attacks and war are not a one-sided issue. Iran has the ability to retaliate, and it certainly will.”
History confirms this. Throughout the years of American hostility toward Iran, it has always been Washington that has waged wars across the region. From Iraq and Afghanistan to Libya and Syria, the U.S. has been the aggressor, bringing turmoil wherever it intervened.
Iran vs. the U.S.: Whose Hand Will Hit the Table?
A widely shared image on social media these days depicts two muscular arms—one draped in the Iranian flag, the other in the American flag—locked in an arm-wrestling match. This picture symbolizes the decades-long competition between the two nations. But in the end, whose hand will hit the table?
Iran, with its long-standing history of resistance against global powers, or the U.S., which has repeatedly failed to learn from its defeats in the region?
Countries trying to bet on both sides should understand that history has proven Iran cannot be forced into submission through threats and pressure. The future will reveal the winner of this battle, but one thing is certain: Iran will never bow to coercion, and for every threat, there will be an appropriate response.
