Strange Circular City in Iran + Video

Gur historical city with circular structure and radius of 2 km is considered one of the first circular cities in the world.

You may not believe, but about 1800 years ago in 224 and during the Sassanid era, the world’s first circular city was built in Iran by the order of Ardashir I.

Gur city is located 100 km from Shiraz, the view of the city from the top is circular and there’s a tower 30 meters high called “Milo Minaret” or “Tarbal” in the center. Overall, this circular city is surprisingly divided into 20 parts, fences and ditches are dug all around the city for defense, Gur observatory is the oldest observatory in Iran, which was a masterpiece in its time.

Among the sights of this city and its surroundings, we can mention Dokhtar Castle, Sarvestan Sasanian Palace, Fire Temple Tower, Four Princes Carving (Naqsh-e Chahar-Shahzadeh), the minaret, the observatory and the remains of Gur city.
