Electronic visa of Iran
The entry of foreign nationals into any country for any reason, including treatment, work, and education, requires obtaining permission from that government to enter the country. In international regulations this permission is issued via a document called visa.
In the past, in order to enter a country, foreign nationals had to go to the embassy or consulate office of the destination country to register a visa application and later receive it. But currently, in many countries of the world, visa application registration is done electronically and through websites. In this regard, in Iran, the system of electronic visa, evisa.mfa.ir, has been launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through which electronic visas are issued for foreign nationals.

When a person intends to travel from his country to another country, in addition to things such as obtaining a passport, he must obtain an entry permit from the government of the destination country. For this reason, in recent years, different governments of the world have started a new process for issuing visas, by which they receive visa requests through the website and sometimes visas are also issued through these systems. and in general, there is no need for foreign nationals to visit their consular posts and offices in person. The visa issued according to this procedure is called electronic visa or E-Visa.
In our country, the electronic visa issuance process has been started by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all foreign nationals can register their electronic visa applications by referring to the website designated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and only if you need to interview or register a visa stamp in your passport, then you may need to go to the relevant consulate in person.
Who can apply for a visa in the electronic visa system of the Islamic Republic of Iran?
After entering the electronic visa system of the Islamic Republic of Iran evisa.mfa.ir, as you can see on the home page of the electronic visa website of Iran, four groups of natural and legal persons can apply for a visa in the visa system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. These people include:
- 1. Real persons
Individuals who have the citizenship of one of the foreign governments and intend to travel to Iran, can refer to the (individual visa application) section of the electronic visa system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and enter the information related to the type of visa, nationality and type of passport and other identity information, apply for a visa.
- 2. Private and public companies
Reputable private and government companies that, due to various occasions, intend to host foreign professionals or businessmen in Iran, can apply for Iran e-visa for their guests through the special section for visa applications for private companies.
- 3. Travel agencies
Accredited travel and tourism agencies that have the required licenses have can register electronic visa applications for their travelers through the designated section in the electronic visa system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
- 4. Government organizations and institutions
Organizations and government institutions that host foreign political officials in the country for different occasions can register the request for electronic visas in the designated section of the Islamic Republic of Iran e-Visa website.
